Hi - I'm hoping you can help us out with my son's bladder issues. He became a paraplegic due to a T12 burst fracture last Aug. His injury is complete and to date he hasn't regained anything. But he is really doing well with everything else and keeping his sense of humor intake, except when it comes to the issue of "leaking upon transfering or simple shifting in his chair". It doesn't happen at night and the bladder is still capable of retaining a good amount before catherizing. He has been taking oxybutynin ER for the incontinence for 30 days now but it hasn't helped yet, and to me it seems worse. It's driving him crazy and keeping him from wanting to go or do anything. I can't blame him, but at this point I'm afraid (that's been a pretty common word over the last few months - ha ha) he's going to get depressed. He is 23 and there is still so much of life for him to enjoy but with this the way it is he won't try anything new - otherwise he's in pretty good shape! Any suggestions? Even is it can't be resovled - how do you go about dealing with it? Thanks!

I don't have one of these myself, but might have to get one. Have a look :- http://www.americanmedicalsystems.com/prof...f_male_800.html

Good luck!

We are going through the same thing with my son who is a T-5 injury as of June 4th of last year. The doctor put him on 15 mg. of oxybutynin twice a day which is the max, and it really did not do much. I took him to a urologist this week and he changed the meds to Enablex- 15mg, once a day. Don't really know yet how much it helps but we have an appointment with a urologist at Johns Hopkins in September to see if there is anything else we can do. Maybe a change of meds might help.

Thanks DavesMom Diane,

We tried the oxybutynin too with no luck. Let me know how the Enablex works. You would think with all the technology today they could do something about it. Like Mike says "They can do face transplants but can't correct my leaking problem"? lol. Thanks for your reply!

ok no expert here but I seem to think botox injections into the bladder wall, neck but not sphincter is a posible route. Common in the UK.
Life is just to short not to have fun!
