My FreeWheel Wheelchair Attachments are available now and with a perch that allows you to store it behind you (when you go inside, for example) costs under $460 to your door. Right now they are shipped within a week. I'll have demos to try at the National Veteran Wheelchair Games in Spokane in July!
I used mine today to get in and out of the hospital for a doctors appointment. Ironnically, the curbs outside the hospital are brutal and I have dumped myself in the gutter more times than I want to admit. But with a FreeWheel, it's so smooth and easy! And it goes on and comes off in seconds.
I've been camping with my kids the last 2 weekends in the woods in Idaho. Caught a couple trout and hiked where we wanted. I suggest that you can be plenty off-roady with your FreeWheel on your everyday chair without needing another chair, space in the van for another chair, probably thousands of dollars spent and you have to transfer to boot!!
See you out and about.

"My guess is something like $2k but more importantly, who's Derby??? "
Derby was a town (and is now a city) in the middle of England. It's where Rolls-Royce Aero Engines have been made since before the first-world-war.
I live there and don't think a night out in Derby is much of a prize, especially if you are a wheelchair user!!!
I'm lucky in that I can transfer to an electric scooter for off-road walks because I don't have enough strength and energy to go far in my manual chair except on hard surfaces without severe gradients. I absolutely hate being pushed in my chair, so if I can't do it myself, I usually don't go there.
At present I use ramps to get the scooter in the back of the estate-type car. However, even this is taking a lot of effort and I'm thinking of getting a small, low trailer for the scooter, to tow behind the car.

Hi Johnny,
No, I didn't at the time. I have now, and having viewed all the videos and listened to the commentaries, I think you should do well with the original for wilderness use by wheelers with huge upper body strength.
Not sure about the two wheeled version. I still think the FreeWheel has the edge over that one.
As others have said, the price will be the clincher. You must have a ball-park figure in mind. Want to share it?

Very truly, I would like charge just materials, labor, and just a Small fee after that, enough to keep going. I really wish I could do a non profit organization, I really think that's what's going to bring this world down...Too Much Greed!
All I am doing now, is trying to get it out into the peoples hands that NEED one, I am going to "Try To Make Sure The Manufacture Is Very Reasonable With The Price", but once again, people get greedy!
Look at the technology in a new four wheeler, why can't we have that technology in a wheelchair, why is medical equipment so expensive? Because of supply & demand...But most of all, Greed, because they know the insurance HAS to pay! The technology of medical equipment, in my opinion, is still stuck in the early 90s.
Thank You All,
Johnny

I stole the barrow picture off the internet Johnny, it wouldn't take much to make that pushable though, a few bends here and there.
Good luck pushing the Rough Roller, I hope you find a non greedy manufacturer.

I do too, if you can find a non-greedy manufacture, please send them my way! That wheelbarrow is a great idea, just think how nice it would push and turn on the soft dirt in the garden? A lot better than those duel wheel ones that sink, are hard to turn & push, gather mud in the middle of the tires etc.
Now, I'll let you have my idea, and hope find a greedy manufacturer, just one stipulation, you have had to push a wheelbarrow one in your life... :wink05:

Maybe Pat would give you some tips on how to bring your dream to life. There never can be enough innovation when it comes to keepin us into...or i mean...out of trouble in the wild. I'll bet he knows first hand how hard it is to have an electric idea & not be able to plug it in. He also seems to have figured it out and may just be willing to tell ya a bit about what the roads like.
Good luck! Hope ya keep us posted.

That is a Great idea, I am hoping Pat will make it to the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in a couple weeks. I would really like to talk to him, was kinda hoping he might want to join forces! I really want to make the RR affordable, I am extremely disappointed in the greed of the medical corporations!
I also drive to Boise quite often, I broke my neck in a logging accident in Idaho. BUT I also have lived in Kentucky for 3 years, so I do know a bit about your neck of the woods too
Peace,
Johnny
