My husband got a slight diaper rash inside his thighs from soaked diapers (we were having major issues with external caths and straight cathing). We quickly went to the doctor and had the suprapubic tube surgery. Since then, he has not worn any diapers and we have tried everything on this diaper rash and it just continues to get worse. We have tried Calmoseptine cream, medicated baby powder, hydrocortizone cream, jock itch spray and are now trying corn starch. At night, I position his legs to be spread open to air him out and nothing seems to work. Any suggestions??? It just seems there is a lot of moisture in that area and I think the rash is coming from him sweating and his thighs rubbing against skin.

I started getting something like that, and like you tried different ointments but my District Nurse gave me some Cavilon Cream to use and it cleared it up. After I've washed and dried the area each day I still use the cream; apart from the occasional redness, its been fine.

I hope this helps, but we're all different.

Have you tried Sudocrem, really works well & is also a mild antiseptic barrier cream.

Have you had a swab taken of the area to check it's not a yeast or a fungal infection? If it it then a targeted treatment should help

You might look at Critic Aid cream, they have regular and anti-fungal, it is also a great skin barrier that helps protect skin from moisture, wetness and urine/bowel contact. I've been using anti-fungal, green coloured cap, for that last year plus, no more diaper rash, heat rash or skin burns from extended urine/bowel contact.

PS. As Trinity mentioned, get swabbed/tested to help implement the most effective cream/protocol.

We see the urologist on tuesday and I am going to show the rash to him and see what he says.

I've used "Butt Paste" ever since I was in Shepherd Center and that stuff works wonders on stuff like that! Idk where you're located but you used to be able to get it from Wal-mart..or you could just order it straight from the apothacarey? at Shepherd Center. Not sure if that was helpful but, hey, I tried.

Yup, what Trinity said. We were really surprised that good ole over-the-counter jock itch spray worked wonders. I guess it's fairly common that a secondary fungal/yeast infection takes hold.

The bigest thing is to keep things clean and dry. I know, easier said than done sometimes. Also what worked for me was zincofax, or really any cream with zinc. When I was still in the hospital my boys were bright red and bleeding a lot. Since i've been home I've been able to clean a lot better and I'm not stuck in bed because some nurse decided to move my chair across the room or into the hallway

To me sweating is usually coursesd by poor bowel and bladder managment.
The first thing is to make sure the two (bowel and bladder) are well taken care, in order to reduce on sweating.
As for rash try the creams, not sure which one can work for you as the are many types.
