Hey gang -

Have 3 small spots about the size of a nickle on my right leg. One on outside of thigh and 2 on the inside inner thigh area. Went to the doc today and her immediate diagnosis was ringworm. Getting a topical ointment to apply daily. Has anyone had this and if so, what was your experience? I have no feeling in the area the spots appeared. thanks !!

ringworm is nothing to really worry about, just maintain good hygiene (ie wash hands well after any contact with effected area,) and keep putting the ointment on it, the worse thing with ringworm is the itching so your at least spared that bit!
i got it years ago from cattle, i was nursing at the time and had to stay off work for 3 weeks so as not to pass it on, a friend got it last year she was looking after some cats which turned out to have it, we were told she needed to stay away from our pets for 3 weeks but otherwise there were no restrictions, and i think that was really only with one of mine being an assistance dog so out in the public all the time, but noone else in her household, human or pet got it.
it'll take a couple of weeks to clear but sounds like you spotted it early so thats good.

If you have a dog or cat, or know friends/ family that do, it's highly likely that's where you got it from. May want to have them checked also to prevent it from resurfacing on you.

Here in South Carolina where it is hot and humid, we are constantly battling fungal infections such as ringworm/athletes foot. They develop everywhere it is warm and moist from our feet to our ears. There are many over-the-counter anti-fungus ointments and powders that take care of them.
Personally, I refer the powders because some ointments can stain clothes. I have most success with Lotrimin powder. If one does not show results in a week or two, just try another. Some are more effective against some varieties of the fungi than others. Also, continue to us the preparation a week or two after the infection has cleared as spores may linger in your clothes until washed once or twice. For prevention, keep body areas prone to getting sweaty/moist as dry as possible.

Great info. The odd thing about the one spot I have is its location. It's on the top of my right thigh 1/2 way between my knee and hip. Not an area prone to heat or moisture, yet it appeared in this area. I'm skeptical that it's in fact ringworm, but my doc ID'd the spot in literally 2 seconds. So maybe it is. I'm treating the spot with an anti-fungal cream that hasn't had a huge effect yet....but only 6 or so applications.

and 1 last thing and I'll stop bugging you all !! When I'm in the shower each morning, the spots get much more red and easliy seen? Not sure if it's the water, the heat of the water or what? ideas?

Increased redness is likely due to the heat, which increases blood flow. Re: the location, I once had ringworm right in the middle of my chest. If it starts to look worse of does not noticably diminish in a couple weeks, I would get a second opinion.
