I have just taken delivery of an ex-display Tilite TR that I bought directly from Tilite via their eBay site. ( Google - Tilite wheelchair )

All it took to get one the right dimensions for me, was to lurk for a while until one was posted. There seems to be a continual stream of demo chairs being offered. And the prices are VERY good!

Chad, the guy who looks after Tilite's eBay site couldn't be more helpful and shipping to the UK was fuss-free, reasonably priced, and fast. Despatched Thursday, delivered Monday - quicker than most stuff I order online from the UK!! I even had a few items changed at no extra cost.

I seriously recommend this outlet to anyone who fancies a Tilite chair and knows their own dimensions.

Good shout Greybeard - just had a look on there and they have a 16" ZRA for less than £500.

Do you mind me asking what the shipping cost was roughly?

I did the same thing 2 years ago, very good service, just make sure you get it right! I also had a few add ons which were much cheaper than the official Tilite site. If I remember shipping was around £60, certainly it was very cheap and I was able to track the whole shipment practically the whole way.

I'm sorry Steve. My main computer has just crashed with all the emails on it, but the figure of $142 comes to mind. That was door to door with FedEx Economy. If I get the damned PC working again, I'll correct this if my memory is playing tricks. It usually does these days :D

OK. Got my emails back. The shipping door to door was $142. According to xe, that's £86.

I'm fancying one right now that Tilite are selling on eBay, a 14" ZRA. Trouble is the centre of gravity is 4.45" and I like my chair to be quite tippy. Does anyone know how how to best work out what centre of gravity suits an individual? I'm waiting on a reply from Tilite about this and the cost of a few extras.
Greybeard, what sort of condition is your chair in? The one I fancy is an ex-demo and I'm assuming it's just got minor scratches and very little wear. As you said, the price is excellent!

Not a mark on mine. The CoG is very easy to change, especially on that model. see http://www.tilite.com/wchairs_zra.php.
(Extract - "Adjustability
The TiLite ZRA is fully adjustable, making it ideal for new users or those with changing needs. TiLite’s Tru-Fit system makes changing the center of gravity a snap. By clamping onto the frame instead of bolting through it, the Tru-Fit system also dramatically improves durability by reducing the number of holes in the frame. The Tru-Fit System’s innovative axle plate design makes transporting the chair easier because the axle plate never extends below the camber tube.")
The guy who deals with the eBay sales is on holiday this week. Back on 6th, I think he said, so you may not get a reply until then.

At this rate I should be on commish!!

Not sure about commission but you get top marks for a prompt reply! If Tilite's own customer service is as good as you they're onto a winner! I read about the adjustability just after I'd posted on here (I know, should have done that first) and it seems dead easy. I hope I get a reply as I've asked a few more questions, mainly querying the frame as it states 80 degrees but looks like 90 in the pics and I'd prefer 90. I'm also unsure about the height of the footrest from the floor...front seat height is 18" and seat to footrest is 17". According to my calcs that means the bottom of the footrest will be less than 1" off the floor, something I can't see being right. If I don't get a reply from Tilite I'm tempted to bid anyway and sort things out later. Glad the condition of yours is excellent, hope you enjoy using it. Maybe you could post back after a few days to let us know how you get on?

Just 10 minutes ago, I actually emailed their Ebay account to see if they have any 13" chairs available that will fit me length-wise and have zero camber. Good to know that you guys have had positive experiences with them over Ebay--and that the guy is on holiday, otherwise I'd be wondering why he wasn't getting back to me!

As for the center of gravity, Graphic, I think on most chairs you can easily adjust it. I've played with the CoG on my Quickie Ti. I also like my chairs to have a very forward CoG because it makes them more agile and spinny but my chair is VERY tippy (and I never use anti-tip bars). Footplates are also adjustable, in general, making the front of the frame shorter or longer as you need it. I've never seen a chair that doesn't have an adjustable footplate.

Thanks fro your reply Greybeard - not to worry about the delay I was out all day yesterday.

Thats a good price for the shipping, considering the bargains of the chairs anyway.

Thanks for that. I thought the footplate must be adjustable but because the dimensions seemed so specific I wasn't sure. The ZRa is supposed to be completely adjustable so I think I'll go ahead and put a bid on the chair. I wish I could get confirmation on the frame angle though. It definitely looks more like 90 degrees than 80 to me. Any thoughts?

i have a friend looking for a new chair he was thinking about the namad chair but so far we havent found anyone thats tried it. the ti lite looks good, but does anyone have problems with the fact the legrest posts (the sides that come down to the footrest) dont shape in? both my chairs shape in here and i've not had a problem but i've never tried a chair that is straight down so cant advise him, he tried the kuschall k4 but found his feet were swinging around a bit when going at any speed and this in turn gave him bad lower back pain (i guess from continously trying to correct his position) i'm not really sure of his actual condition hes not a spinal injury but has some complicated nuscular disorder. can anyone tell me their experiences with not having the leg supports/sides shaped in (good or bad) also does anyone know if ti lite do then shaped to order or not?? thanks wendy
it wasnt me, i didnt do it, no one saw me so they cant prove a thing!

I think with Ti Lite chairs you have to get their "taper package" or whatever they call it. Basically, you have to pay extra to get the V taper. They will taper in the chairs a bit on a regular order but if you want a big taper, you'll be shelling out extra. I have a lot of taper on my Quickie Ti--I believe it comes in to a width 8 or 9 inches at the footrest but I can't recall the exact measurement and don't have a tape measure lying around right now--and have always had the taper on my old chairs because I prefer it (and I think it looks better). I've never experienced having no taper.

Sorry to hear that graphic...

I was just going to say that I have the TiLite ZRA and other than the main frame itself the rest of the chair is "Fully" adjustable. Even the Camber is adjustable to an extent... depending on the initial setup. Like what's already been discussed the "A" in the ZRA means Adjustable.

I am really satisfied with my TiLite ZRA, I currently am authorized 2 wheelchairs (Through VA) and my other spare wheelchair I need to turn in (I out grew it since my injury) I will probably get another Ti ZRA because I like them. Very light, quick to disassemble and toss in either the back seat or trunk/boot or carry up with you on a stair chair lift.. may have to make a couple trips up and down but it is do-able (been there done that).

If this is what you were looking for I wish you luck in finding another good deal on one as I am confidant you will like it.

T.

Thanks T. I've decided that I'm definitely going to get a ZRA. I'll keep looking for an ex-demo as they're such a bargain. Having said that, maybe it won't be so cheap...my wife worked out that for the amount I'd save against a new one we could fly out to Washington, stay a week and collect it in person! I think I'd rather pay for postage :D
