Hi,i moved away from my family in august 08 with my partner and children to be nearer to pinderfields hospital for on going treatment it made sence to live closer to the hospital instead of traveling the 200 mile round trip every appointment,we live in council accomadation and exchanged my partners property for the one we have now and i gave up my flat as we could not get housed together we had two properties and moved into the flat we have now as it is a large flat it is perfect, the problem now is my partners health has gone down hill she has epilepcy and up until 3 months ago her fits where few and far between sometimes going over a year with no fit at all but now she is having regular fits witch effects her for days afterwards with no warning or the reason, her consultant has no idea as to the reasons either and i am finding it very very hard to cope with looking after her and the kids as all of our support ie my family live so far away we are a little stuck at the moment and need to move back to the family for support not just physical support but i am finding myself getting very down and worry every day all day it is like some one has there hand on my heart and pulling it out i feel very lost and alone, the council where we want to move back to have told me that there may be little chance of getting housed back there i expained the situation and was told i need to get letters from my gp expaining the reason why it would be benificial for us to move back to my family but still they can not give me any reasurance of being re housed.
What i am after if any one can is any advice they could give on how to go about things, who other than my gp could help us with the situation and what i can do to get re housed??

Thank you for your time

What's wrong with the advice that you got?

You said you needed to move for medical reasons, so they're asking you to get some documentation to back up what you're saying. Seems pretty normal to me.

Why don't you want to follow that route?

S; If the council back home is unhelpful you need to contact Citizen's Advice who can help explore your options and rights.

All councils have published housing priority policies, which you shd be able to access.

For a general introduction to housing, Google "adviceguide" and then browse "housing".

Good luck...let us know how you progress.

Go and see your MP at one of his/her surgeries. Seriously despite what people thnk most of them are only too willing to do the best they can for you. over the years I have seen a couple of different MPs about variouse things and all have been very helpful. Sometimes it just takes them to make a phone call or a letter and it gets things rolling along more quickly!

Well all the letters we sent to the council to be rehoused have not made much of an impact with the housing department even though this is important and my GP and OT have written brilliant letters saying how this is a much needed move for our health which it really is they have said we could be waiting upto 6 years for a house???? they have been very unhelpful to say the least. I am not sure if I can take much more of banging my head against a brick wall.

Hi
Have you looked into housing transfer, our council have a transfer web site & on it there are people looking for transfers from all over the country.
Have your council or the council you want to move to have anything like this, it worth a look.
I am probably depriving a village of an idiot
I use to be indecisive but Im not so sure anymore

Hi
Yes we transfered from our old house to this one using the house exchange system we have our flat on an exchange site but no interest as yet, we have just come in from being over to where we want to move back to we went to look at a flat private landlord who assured us that my chair would fit around no problem so travelled 190 mile round trip and i couldn't even get through the front door lol.
