Are cauda equina nerves peripheral nerves and is there any possibility to regenerate?

I have a L3-L4-S3 injury and while the nerve pain has definitely subsided over the years, the bladder problems have gotten worse over time, due to the development of scar tissue at the point of injury's.

I believe I read somewhere that CA has the capacity of motor regeneration and less so for sensory but that it is rare.
