my brother was injured almost 4 months ago he is a c-4 incomplete. We are heading home from in patient rehabilitation this coming week. The fact that our mom was our guardian and passed away a few years ago leaving us assets that are valuale and much needed but are interfering with receiving social security nad we have had to put majority of money availab le into paying attorneys to help. I am twenty three and am my brothers caregiver. Thankfully he is off the vent but is still needing fulltime assistane for the time being so work is out of question, i have ran into nothing but dead ends as far as finding access to grants or assistantce that is useful - we live in north carolina. Will someone please direct me to a website or number or anything where i can try to find some assistance

Contact the NTAF and start up a fundraising account with them. My bro was injured a little over 2 months ago (he is a T6-7 incomplete) and I have been his caregiver. The NTAF has been very helpful. Tell your story to anyone and everyone and ask them to donate to your brother's account.

I also live in NC (Raleigh area) and my brother will be coming to live with me and my husband when we leave rehab at the end of this week. I can empathize with you, I am 29 and our folks are a bit older and live in Massachusetts. I know what you are doing for your brother is not easy, and I know what has helped me is delegating even the smallest of tasks to family & friends that are far away, and also asking for help even when I think we don't need it. I sent out emails to his friends and asked them to send small necesseties, like toiletires, etc. Since I am so new to this world, I don't know what else to say. Have you looked into signing up for unemployment for yourself?

sorry to hear about your brother! Good luck to the both of you once he gets home!!
I am also my brother's care-taker and get paid directly by him. He gets a monthly grant from his health insurance that he then gives to me.
Having a family member to take care of him rather than a professional one, he only gets ~50% of what he would get with a professional one but at least he does get some money.
Visiting the National Spinal Cord Injury Association homepage (http://www.spinalcord.org/index.php) might be a help to you.
Sorry for not being a big help myself and best wishes!!
