This is going to be an odd one for you, but the more I read this wonderful site the more I realise how little I know about my injury, how little I know about what is expected or "normal".

I haven't had any rehab or spinal injury specialist treatment or God like doctor to explain it all to me - we wont go into why just read "incompetence" in this grey area :icecream:

So what is expected or "normal" with an L5 injury? I'm an incomplete (just like me to do a half arsed job of it) so I realise that the list isn't conclusive and everyone is difference but...

...anyone care to enlighten me a little here? I feel such a drip when people ask and all I can say is "I found out I do bounce off tarmac"

Hi Clara,

If you haven't already done so, click on the Apparelyzed logo at the top of your screen. This will take you to the home page where there is lots of information and links about the spine, spinal cord and spinal nerve roots. Your injury was at L5 so any nerve damage will be to the nerve roots in the cauda equina (horses tail), rather than to the spinal cord itself.

The good news is that with nerve root damage there is often a possibility of improvemen over time. If you do a Google search for cauda equina you will find all sorts of information regarding the nerve roots, their locations and what they control.

Thank you my dear wonderful sir,

I fear I looked at the home page when I first found this site. Got lost and confused and ended up here. It is proving full of really interesting late night reading now it makes sense (called - now I have a brain).

Curse word. Just realised I've not taken my meds but I'm all tucked up in bed now... agh :head_brick_wall-1:

Thank you for taking the time to post, it means an awful lot to me.
