Those of you who need a caregiver for cathing, bathing , transfers and some dressing. I was wondering how many caregivers you use in a day? Do you have one help you get in bed and leave only to return later when cathing is needed? Or how do you do this. I am think of going to project walk in texas far from my home where i have family help me and dont know any different routine. Thank you for any help!

I guess you got lost in the shuffle.

So, you're saying that you'll be AWAY from family, because it reads like you'll be CLOSE TO FAMILY.

If family is close by, I'm not sure what the problem is, unless your uncomfortable asking them to help with your care. Or, will you only be available during morning and evening hours due to your therapy sessions? I guess more info would be needed for some advice on your matter.

Maybe you'll have to resort to an indwelling cath with leg bag for your therapy sessions. Then, you may only need help in mornings getting up and in evenings with dinner, bowel program, shower, and getting to bed.

Okay, so your leaving the family, and you don't use a foley cath. But, you still haven't given any details as to what your normal routine consists of, or how I might help with some ideas of my own based on your current situation, cause frankly, you don't give anyone much to go on.

I'd recommend, in order to make your sessions work most effectively, the LAST thing you'll want to worry about is how your going to do all the regular duties of daily living when you should be putting your energy and concentration into your therapy. I know it isn't cheap, so bring a caregiver or your favorite family member along for the ride and then you won't have to sweat the small stuff. Put your money to work for you and focus on the therapy sessions.

In my experience, caregivers don't just pop in and out on command for a personal cath session. There's no money in that. Nope, they're in it for the long haul. At least 3-4 hours minimum, so you'll have to find things for them to do and keep 'em busy, like playing cards, or a fun game of sherades. If your going out of state, most likely your going to have to pay for the caregiver full time on a 24 hour basis.
