Just my opinion, that YOU should always have a say in your healthcare. I use intermittent caths and it works for me.
Best of everything to you!

Maisy. I agree that you should have a say in your health care and ask questions about procedures Dr's perform on you. Its your body, so you have a right of choice in these things.

You don't say what it is about the Suprapubic that you don't like? Maybe you could explain?

About 4 years ago I had a suprapubic catheter fitted but it doesn't work well; I get a lot of urethral leakage, up to 500mls at night, so I've ended up wearing 2 leg-bags instead of one.

Try and get someone to listen to your opinion, which isn't always easy; some Dr's will listen but others think they are God, and always right.

Good luck Maisy

they certainly do think they are the high and mighty! I dont like having to wear a leg bag,i wana fell as "normal" as posible when hanging out with friends.having other things attatched to me is not contributing to that too well. Sometimes at night i do have some leakage but not too often and only a small amount,so i tend to never stay at any ones house relatives or not.i dont see why doctors get to choose what happens to my body, they read about dealing with sci in a text book,im actually going through it.urgh! Id like to tell them wear to stick there "highly sugested advise". Sorry im going on a bit here ill stick a sock in it.

I understand what you mean Maisy, even though I'm an old codger; probably older than your Granddad... :) You have every right to me upset, so don't feel you have to keep quiet about it. I often find writing things down helps, even if you just write a Journal on your computer, when you read it back things can often seem clearer. You certainly don't have to keep the suprapubic catheter if you don't want it.

About sleeping away. You're still a young girl but you will soon become more adventurous and want to go on holidays and do more, which I'm sure you'll do. Take care and if you feel down, just write your thoughts to yourself, or write them to a friend you trust.
