Hi all!
Right now I'm going into my 2nd year of college, after my second year I can have a degree that pays a good amount of money..I'm nervous for after college though. Ive been thinking about it alot lately, so Im looking for some insight please!
Currently, since Im a student, Im on title 19 and also my moms insurance which pays for my doctor bills, my medications and I also receive my cath kits for free as well. If I weren't on title 19, I would have tons of bills, I dont even want to know how much my medications would amount to each month. Im just wondering if there is still help for these things when your no longer eligible for title 19? The only thing I'm thinking is I'll need some damn good insurance!
Im not looking to get everything for free, Im just curious as to what will happen when I actually have a career and have to pay for these things myself.. I feel like alot of my income will be gone. Im also wondering if anyone has had trouble getting a job after getting a degree? I've tried getting a job that somewhat has some accounting experience but no luck so far.
Thanks for any advice in advance!

Well Ms Jackie.. I know from experience.. so long as you're in school you should be covered until you turn 24.. I was insured through my step dad.. and I was 23 when he passed, and because of that I was told I would still be insured through my 24th bday just as regularly planned. Its something you and your mom will have to talk to your insurance provider about.. when the time comes! If you graduate at 22.. you could always throw in some grad school just for the insurance.
In fact.. I think once you turn 21 you can go to federal school aid and assitance.. I know its not paying for the meds and other supplies you need, but its a way to get some cash in your pocket, and have school paid for.. so in the end you have a bit of money to spare.
Anddd one more thing to talk to your insurance provider about,.. when you hit 2 yrs you will become eligible for Medicare.. (with a 6 month waiting period.. so 2.5 yrs post injury) Discuss the pros and cons with people, it may be something you want to do..
Hmm.. Im scanning my brain.. what else can you do?!?! Hmmm
I know it seems forever away, but its good thing you're thinking about it now.. cause if you want to make the money to fully support yourself (like good money) you're probably going to lose some benefits that come with disability...its alot to think about, cause once you get moved around in 'the system' its a pain in the ass to get back where you started.
Hope that helped some.

The vast amount of time and the herculean effort made to get the degree you will need to get the job you want may very well be a total waste of energy.
The extra money you will be making is actually LESS than the monetary outlay for medical expenses (including insurance premiums) you will then have because of the loss of governmental help caused by the increase of your income.
And around and around we go in the grand circle of insanity we've created for our selves.
