About a week ago when I was talking off my compression stockings I found that on the backside of my lag (where the knee bends) it looked like a sore. So I said to myself well I just not where the stockings for a wile (my lags really don’t swell up any at all).

Well that was two weeks ago and it’s still there?!?

Well I thank it’s a sore, but what can I do to help it?

Here is a picture I toke off the internet to help tell there the sore is.

Wow, is that a marble or granite cusion you're sitting on? !

Have you tried below the knee stockings?, I think the problem you are getting is the creases behind the knee are digging into your legs.

Another cause could be your cusion digging into the back of your legs, check there is clearence between the cusion and the back of you knees.

Regards

Simon

Do you really need the stockings at all now? Often they're just a temporary measure for newly injured people - especially with paras.

when i had an open pressure sore these were my instructions from the doctor:

1 - stay off it (literally it can mean hanging out in bed for a couple weeks depending on where the sore is)
2 - wash the area
3 - put a little anti-biotic ointment on a piece of gauge and keep it covered (tape the gauze on)

you can get all this stuff at any drug-store.

change the gauze once or even twice a day depending on how much it's leaking.

happy healing!!
the only thing to worry about .. is worry

My other half has a sore spot in exactly the same place... :(

I dont think his is a pressure sore as such, but rather a callus built up from his leg pressing up against the seat of his chair. Its quite thick and hard and every now and then he picks it off and it bleeds everywhere (eeeeewwwwww!!!!) :P

Since being in a chair for 28 years he has developed osteoporosis and his legs are shrinking so his chair doesnt fit the same anymore. :( He has been waiting for a new chair for over two years now and its all been approved by ACC but nothings actually happened yet! So until he gets another chair theres not a lot we can do about it. as he cant feel it it doesnt actually bother him much.

Hey, you're from NZ, havent you heard of Manuka Honey, it come from your homeland, its the best thing around be sores, cuts, septic areas the lot. Will even kill MRSA - oh yes it will!
The healing effects are about 2-3 times quicker than any 'conventional' sores packs treatment we've tested it.
Buy some, put it on a plaster and place on the area or use gauge if its larger area, change twice/day. It'll debride, clean, kill germs without an aseptic technique.

Be real careful when removing the tape. My b/f had to spend additional time in bed due to the tape pulling off skin. Now his attendant is more careful and they also have something (I'll try to find out what it is) that they put on the tape to help it not stick when it's being removed. Also they use some alcohol on a cotton ball, I believe, as they are removing the tape.

He also uses A&D ointment on his backend every day. He's had several surgeries and this allows the skin in that area to be more pliable.
B/F is Quad C 4,5,6 incomplete as of July 27, 1969.

Yeah, tape is an issue, got a friend who had a really bad grade 3 sore on her left shoulder, most of the damage was caused by pulling dressing off daily. My wife Denise healed it with essential oils in about a month (didn't help that the friend wouldn't keep off it!). Have found since that Manuka is better but must be UMF 18+ and it will sooth the area the tape is on too.
