Hello, people of similar ability.

I push a good two miles every day, from class to class, from my dorm to campus, etc.

By the end of the day, if I do a depression weight shift, I can FEEL the heat from underneath me.

Anyone have any suggestions on ventilation? Could I get some kind of gel pad to keep it cool down there, so I don't have to take a shower every time I get home?

And man, do my hands hurt.

Thank you, lovelies.

:)

I would suggest using a FreeWheel. See at www.gofreewheel.com

Reducing the effort required will releive your hands and maybe keep you cooler.

Good luck with finals.

I'm in a similar situation and also looking for something like this. I wonder if something like this could be used as a model to develop: http://gizmodo.com/393793/air-conditioned-...ling-technology

Hi there,

That's some serious hardware in your back! I hope you're not having too much pain from it.

As for the sweaty butt getting around campus, I am really shocked at how bad this problem has been for me since I started grad school and have spent a lot of time sitting. I have numbness in my legs but not in my butt, and yet after just a few months of using the chair I started having some major irritation. Lotions, powders, and trying to lay down as much as possible eventually helped. But, I realized my cushion is not appropriate. I have the Jay Triad (foam) which seemed most comfortable and shock-absorbing of all that I tried (--which I need because my neck is unstable and probably even worse than my back). However, I learned that the foam material is not breathable at all. I am ordering a sheet of Stimulite Supracor honeycomb material to insert in the cushion cover as a top layer. Just Google those terms and you will find the manufacturer, and then send an email to customer service for a price quote. It's about $80 for a sheet that will cut about 4x what you will need, so you can double/triple the layer. Be aware that they have different types of material, some open on top and bottom, some with fabric on one side, so ask the customer service rep about your particular needs so they can recommend the best material for you.

Hope that helps.

The AireRx cushion has a built in fan! Apparently it works awesome, my OT reccomended one. AireRx makes 3 cushions and their most "extreme" cushion for high risk users has the fan and the deep counters for skin protection. You should check it out!
