I work in an office with five non-disabled people. As i sweat a lot, i use an electric fan heater to blow heat in my face as it dries it off and makes me feel better.
My colleagues hate it as it dries out the air and poses a fire safety risk.
Does anyone have any alternative suggestions?.

You sweat because your body is trying to lower your temperature. Why do you think that blowing heat on you will help?

I don't know if you have ever experianced this symtom but as the autonomic nervous system is damaged in a cervical injury, sweating is activated when there is physical discomfort not if i am too hot, in fact if i am on holidayin a hot country, i cant sweat which in itself can be a problem.
i am surprised by the responses so far because most of my friends who would have a similiar injury ghave this problem i.e. cold, sticky clammy sweat oozing down their faces which is deeply uncomfortable and only alleviated bu hot dry air

Sorry, I don't recall seeing all that in your first post, just that you sweat a lot, hence the short answer.

Perhaps now folks know exactly what your problem is, someone with similar a similar injury may be able to help. I can quite understand why you work colleagues dislike what you are doing, though.

Hi,

Another common cause of sweating due to Autonomic Dysreflexia in people with cervical injuries, is irritation to the bladder.

This can be reduced by medication, by such drugs as Ditropan (oxybutynin). You would need to see a Urologist first though, just to make sure it would not interfere with your bladder management.

Regards

Simon
