Has anyone got any tips on how to stop the door sill of the car getting scratched due to wheelchair positioning at the drivers door while I transfer over. Over the years all my cars have got big scuff marks/rusting on the drivers side door sill due to this and I am getting a new car soon....

Hey I have a Holden boot lip protector attached with velcro the the base of the drivers seat.

Line-X. I use it on handrims for grip, door sills for protection, and coated the underside of the floor of my truck with it for noise dampening. (A friend of mine and I went crazy with some one day in his shop...)

I used some heavy duty duct(sp?) tape and another fella I know uses electricians tape- its black and kinda thick, says it does okay.
THE ONLY EASY DAY WAS YESTERDAY.

I have found that the loop part of wide 2" (50mm) self adhesive Velcro is great to protect door sills etc from wheelchair bashing. Just clean area well, peel off backing and stick it on. If it gets worn (very tough stuff) or starts to peel off, just pull it off and replace with new piece.
Also, if you really need the padding, you can put the hook side (non self adhesive) onto the stuck on loop piece and get a double thickness that can be replaced as easy as pulling velcro apart and popping on new piece. Just beware that the edge can be sharp.
I've used this on a couple of cars (just single loop side) and it works really well as is tough, cheap, easily applied and easy to replace. Saves a lot of damage.

I ended up getting some Helicopter tape from Ebay and it does the job - look's to be pretty hard wearing. It is used to help protect the rotor blades from getting damaged and to protect bicycle frames...
