Glad she made it. I wonder what she will plan next.
Some people under go corporate reorganizations some under go spiritual reorganizations. I However have undergone a reorganizations of the spine, not figuratively mind you though there has been a bit of that as well.

I know I'm gonna sound like a complete dick by saying this but...she didn't do it solo. She had 6 other people with her. It's awesome that she did it. it is an unbelievable achievement for her but it is a bit disingenuous to say that she did it solo.

Well, that's all...I'm a dick.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that she controlled her modified boat single-handedly using sip and puff tubes. It would have been foolish in the extreme for anyone so paralysed to undertake any sea voyage - let alone this one - without some back-up in place. Her assistants were there for safety purposes, not to sail her boat. In my book, that makes her voyage single handed and worthy of applause. :) :nono:

In a 20ft boat by herself, navigating via sip-n-puff straws, around the crazy cold waters of England...mind blowing, fantastic...I can only imagine her elation, pride, what a ride/sail that must have been.

Thanks GB :mfromg:

PS. mjtpopus, you use a chair to get around right, would that be with one hand or two, did you make your chair...give the lady a break, yea she had assistance getting into the boat, had emergency crews at the ready...she sailed solo.

AB expert/experienced sailors that cruse around the world also solo; with gps responders, radios, have crew members/helpers pack the boat up, I seriously doubt they sew their own sails, and they have the coast guard or navy for their backup...what gives...do any of us really solo...

btw, no apologies required for being a dick :) party on

I'm not criticizing her. I think what she has done is remarkable. She truly is an inspiration, not only to disabled folks but to everyone. I just question the use of the term "solo," that's all.

Yes solo. in the boat by herself. back up in another boat. and in our waters, I think vfery brave. yes she did need help to get into boat etc. sailing was solo. Good for her, very brave. I did a little sailing in the past, and it can be very choppy on our waters.
