i am a massage therapist and have recently had a new client whom is paralized from chest height down (c5 severed). He has been getting sharp pain in his neck and shoulders which massage has been helping. I wanted to find out the best excersises for him to do to help with his posture as much as possible His left arm is not completely functional and can only hold on to things with both hands.

Ok I had the very same thing. My physio said that this is because in a chair you tend to hunch forward so you get really bad posture over time. She told me to do wht she called the double chin whereby you bring your chin down as much as possible to try to touch your chest. Sounds simple but its really hepled me.

I have the same problem. The cause is the slumped posture as diagnosed by my massage therapist who is training to be a doctor. I am lucky to have her help. She told me which nerves it bothers but I don't remember the names. Can also cause circulation problems. When I am in bed I roll up a towel and lay it along my spine for a hour at a time. It makes a difference.
