Not very exciting, but I'm impressed with myself!

Went to Bradgate Park in Leicestershire today, and pushed from the carpark, to the cafe, and back. Doesn't sound that impressive I know, but the road through the park is uneven and steep on the return, so for a C5/6 quad, very challenging.

A couple of times I thought of letting Karen push me, but, determination/stubourness won, and I made it back to the car. A to B and back again on the image below.

Probably going to suffer tomorrow though!

Simon

I have to say, there were a few times when I came to a standstill, the acid in my shoulders just left me with no energy in them.

A few people asked me if I needed help, some said I needed an electric scooter, Karen told them I couldn't have one untiil I was 60, they thought it was the NHS decision, you should of seen their faces when we told them it was Karen's choice and mine due to our "Use it or lose it" stance!

You can tell she's an ex-rehab nurse!

Afraid not, just a Cappuccino and a Toasted Teacake at the Cafe!

Forgive me sir.
I certainly wouldn't want to empty my leg-bag on anyone's parade, as you well know.
But.
Looking at the Photo of the ground covered by your obviously herculean efforts, even when magnified to the fullest extent it appears you have only rolled about 4 inches. Don't get me wrong boss. An arduous 4 inches they were, I mean you can see all the rocks n' stuff. An' not askin' the ol' lady fer help, that's a big one too! Hat's off to ya sir!

Yes sir. Back to the corner I go.
No sir. No more cookies for me.

Truth be known.
Ya did a good thing there, Simon.
Lazy as I am, I couldn't have come even close to that kinda distance.
And my level is way lower than yours.

On occasion I do tend to mess with ya. But I don't mean any harm.
I hope you know that.

Hi,

Strangely, my shoulders are ok, but my neck has stiffened up quite a bit.

Great job, Simon! I have been fighting with my husband about an electric scooter. He wants me to get one. I feel it would feed into a laziness that is just around the corner. Your trek is an example of determination and a healthy attitude.

Having strutted around Bradgate park many many times - well done you sir! That place is not an easy place to try and navigate.

Don't stop now! Try to do the same route at least ones a week. Pretty soon you will push double the distance, trust me!

Okay Simon, you inspired me. Our family went to a park and walked and I wheeled myself about 3 miles by the time we finished. My hubby kept wanting to push me to help me but I kept thinking of you and wouldn't let him (except up one big long ramp that I couldn't finish). To be fair though, it was paved trails and wasn't rough at all but it was still more than I had done in a long time (since having the c-section with the baby 7 weeks ago). I am with you, I thought my arms would be killing me but they aren't even sore. My neck is a different story though! It felt great to do this. Thanks for the inspiration!
