Hi Meme,

I have had all my pumps implanted in the UK, but more importantly, I had them all done at Sheffield by consultants Mr MRMcClelland and Mr G.Ravichandran.

If there's anyone who can get a Lumbar puncture done, it's McClelland or Ravi, and if they feel it's too risky, then they won't go ahead with the procedure.

The effects of the baclofen trial will start to work after an hour, and can last upto 12-24 hours, depending on which strength they give you.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Here's my Pump history if you are interested.

Say hello to McClelland and Ravi for me (Simon Roulstone), they know me well!

Regards

Simon.

thanks for you reply still scared but i am going through with it my injury is complecated (please excuse spelling i am crap) i was born with spina bifada (enclosed) and this was not dianosed i was very clumsy as a kid on my feet i walk like a duck you know ten 2 two :dunno: When i was 19 i broke my back at L4/L5 had two ops on it they said at best on crutches or most probley in a wheel chair, but i was on my feet 6months later.Over the next 15 yrs i had lots of pain and other problems (water works and bowel) all this time i was having musle spasms and did not know what they were.
When i had my urostomy mr tophill introduced me to dr wasti at northern gen who told me i had bad muscle spasms he put me on loads of tablets, but i have lots of side effects from them. I am now on max dose of zanaflex baclofen and dantrolene but they are not working and the side effects are bad.My liver fuction test are not good also.Dr Wasti then in troduced to Mr McMullen a kids doc if you can believe it. who also works out of royal hallamshire. He say the pump will help but it means the end to what walking i can do and i will have to use my chair all the time. that scares me, but if the pump does its job no more pain or spasms and maybe i can stay awake for more than 6 hrs at a time.
the scar tissue i have is all through my lower spine L1/2/3/4/5 so doing anything do there is really bad. I hope they can put it in as low as possible so i can still tranfer myself. I can most probley cope with not walking .do you know how low they can put one and can the pump go on left hand side has my urostomy is on my right.
