  • Spinal Injury Level / Relationship:Assistance Idea

My Grandfather died when he was 35. My Grandmother was intelligent enough to run a household but needed physical assistance around the house/farm when she reached her 60s. Oliver Davis had a learning disability but was physically able to plow and harvest the garden, cut the grass etc. but he could not read, write or even dial a telephone. With their complementary abilities, they lived together independently for over 20 years.

If you are intellectually and financially able to manage a household, you might want to try to find someone who has a learning disability that could help around the house. My son has a learning disability and can't manage a household but he drives and bags groceries for a grocery store. I am not sure if his help would be sufficient for a Quadriplegic but I suspect he could help some if not most Paraplegics. Although he might not be able to provide all of the needed help, he could provide some of it. He is on disability and we live in Georgia, USA. Moving is possible for the perfect situation but it would be better for him to help someone from Atlanta, GA to northeast GA. Any thoughts?

Mike
