I posted on the New Injury Q & A forum yesterday my brother's injury story.

Well we visited last night. He was much better. He had calmed down a lot. We were talking to him and reading his lips. We took pics of our family and balloons to brighten his room.

He got a trach mask today. ..and is off the ventilator. The nurse said that he probably would be moving to a room soon....from the ICU. YAY!!!

Question though...my husband was messing with his feet while I was talking to him. He stopped listening to me and mouthed what was he doing. I told the nurse about it,..but he said the night before he couldn't tell which leg he was touching. THe doctors have said that there is only about a 5% chance he'll walk again....I'll wait on God...thank you very much(smile).

Do you still have sensation with this type of injury?

BTW...long story short...he was shot four times..one wound hit his spine.

Good to hear his spirits are up.

No one can predict his outcome.. spinal cords are too complicated and all injuries are unique, and by unique.. I mean UNIQUE!! There isnt a two of us here whom are alike injury wise, we may have things in common but it stops there.

Let the docs do their jobs but dont take their diagnosis to heart, most ppl see a transformation at around 6 months. not all.. Either way, you wont know w/out trying, so dont settle first.
