Before I sell this on ebay, I thought it might be worth mentioning on here first.
My girlfriend's old flat was on the 1st floor and with a really narrow staircase, so a mate and I thought to solve this problem and came up with this: a 2nd hand industrial pallet stacker!
We got the dealer to put a remote control in it, so that I could operate it independently, and put a cage on, which was sat unused on a local farm (and needed a bit of modifying, also done by the dealers - who were fantastic). Then placed it alongside the part of the building with a flat roof leading up to her terrace. I didn't have to get out of the chair to go upstairs, the battery carries a really long charge, but we just left it plugged in anyway, stuck a spare remote battery on the remote control with mini screwdriver (to avoid any dramas!). (Also useful for getting a piano in and out of the flat!)
It has a payload of 1 tonne (even I'm not that heavy!!) and has a wide base, for greater stability, and goes up to 3m high. At first I was a bit dubious, but the fitters went in first and rocked it around right at its height, like I never would, to show how stable it was (think they quite enjoyed doing such a different job for a change!).
I paid £1,250 plus the cage for it, but would take quite a bit less, as would be happy to see it go to a good home!
