Is It A Good Thing To Have A Thread Locked?

Hi - sorry to waste a thread here, but is it a good thing to have your thread locked? A sign that post stands by itself or that it shouldn't be added to?

Curious to know how the forum police work! (Guess that's you, Simon!)

I'm aware that I have promoted my own website, though not ruthlessly, I hope. And I also believe that I have offered some impartial help in various of the equipment threads to which I have responded, plus enjoying banter in other unconnected threads. (Btw, have rejigged my About page, so it says more about what I am trying to achieve with it.)

But if I'm out of line, just let me know.
