Hey Everyone,
I'm back after being gone for a while.

We are married now, wahoo!!!! It will actually be one month tomorrow!

Quick question - have any of you gotten guidance from your doctors about getting the H1N1 vaccine? Either my C5/6 quad husband or me getting sick is seriously one of my biggest fears.
But I want to be educated about this vaccine before getting it.
I just want to do what is best for our little family.

Your thoughts are appreciated!

I have had the normal flu vaccine and the swine flu; I had a temperature and felt a little rough after each but that did not last long.
If I fall out of my wheelchair in the woods would anybody hear me?

Hey there,

I'm not a doctor and not qualified to tell anyone else what they should be doing, but here's what we did, and it seems to be working out:

Neither of us ever get the flu vaccine so we opted not to get the H1N1 vaccine either. We work closely with a naturopath who advised against it, as my hubby is otherwise very healthy.

Well, wadd'ya know, in November we both caught it a week apart...to be fair I caught it from work I think he caught it from me. He was home sick from work for 3 days and slept a lot for about a week, but really it just looked like a normal flu without the nausea.

While sick, he took Cold FX (as directed on bottle), Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Vitamin E and drank lots of fluids. Soup, ginger ale, juice, water. Seemed to do the trick.

Our naturopath told us that this was actually good for as getting sick once a year boosts the immune system, and keeps it working properly. Since then we've both felt great.

I hope this helps,
K

i would suggest getting it. i guess it couldnt hurt. my husband was just admitted into the hosp. last week for nerve pain and i am mortified he will get sick. we opted to get the H1N1 and the Pnemonia.
better to be safe than sorry!
