Hi,
Ive asked questions here before and was wondering what a quadriplegic like me might be able to do about controlling "autonomic dysreflexia." I'm a c4,5,6 quadriplegic who has been paralyzed since I was 17. I'm 44 now and have had a supra pubic catheter for the last 3 years. My tolerance for pain is pretty good but has increase over the years. I do take a total of 900mg of neurontin a day. I've been having these sweats on my right side on and off. It's a cold, clammy sweat and can be very uncomfortable.
Any solutions?
Thanks,
nick

C5/6 here Neotrin, 31 yrs rollin, AD; the clamminess, sweatiness is often just caused by sitting or laying in an off position; it could be a wrinkle or fold in clothing, a belt or clothes being to tight or shoes to tight. Check for redness or bruising, first signs of pressure; bedsores. Sometimes it's just full bowels. Maybe an ankle/foot not at the correct angle. Being a quadie is interesting...btw, right side claminess/sweating often means sometime on your left side is having an issue. I have found the same with pain as you do, I guess we just deal with it...hope your AD bouts go away, t/c.
Jerry
PS. Below are links to the Apparelyzed page on AD as well as Wikipedia, feel free to message me for more personal info, I've experienced AD a dozen or more times.
