Start with footrest height. If raising the footrest doesn't do it, then check out different cushions. Try to get to a local med supplier or rehab unit for a pressure map evaluation.

You could try experimenting with different types of cushions and backrests but I am guessing you have already tried this. Is the pressure evenly destributed to support the thighs, pelvis etc? There should be a bit of give for the two main points of the hip that you sit on I think. Clothing without prominent seams might help.

Well I tried the foot rest thing along time ago, its more like the thighs are too pressed together and they hurt. He has a roho cushion and its not his buttocks that hurt as much as the thighs. We have tried to bring the legs up more to release the pressure from the thighs but then he feels pressure on his feet.

In my opinion, roho just provides zero support. Sitting on air. I have one now but am going to switch. It doesn't support my hips and my legs in turn splay outwards (like how some men making themselves too comfortable sit) This effect also causes me back pain.

A more supportive cushion with slight contouring might be good to keep hips, thighs in a comfortable position. Or maybe he's just experiencing nerve pain/hypersensitivity?

I just ordered the Contour Solect cushion. It's made to keep your legs together and to keep your posture straight so you don't have lower back pain.. .

I use a high profile roho and it works pretty good. The only thing I don't like about it, it keeps your legs apart somewhat and I'm not to keen about that. I will try the Contour Select cushion next I need a cushion, which will be sooner than later since my cushion is leaking from the valve. grrrr. More money to spend.

No problem. I usually ask for two... They are real easy to change and they do come with instructions...
