I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this before. Its been a few years since I have ejaculated, then somehow last night my girlfriend made it happen. Unfortunately it was followed by an pounding headache that reminded me of an extreme case of Dysreflexia. Since last night I have been getting the same headaches but on a more mild scale when I need to cath. So i'm guessing that's what it is, although I saw something called coital cephalalgia online that sounds about right also. Is this common? Am I alone? Any ideas on how to make it better?

Thanks.

Not sure u posted in right place but..........

Exactly the same happened to me. About 20 months after my C-5 inc injury, I felt in the mood 1 night and managed to ejaculate. It started my spasms off, I got a throbbing head-ache down to my neck too and I went all red and blotchy.
This happened for the next 4 - 5 times each time getting less severe.
Don't worry about ti mate...... You should be happy.
Your body's just blowing off the cob-webs!

If you don't mind, tell me what happened in more detail as what happened is exactly the same as what I experienced..... I remember just being curled up, squinting and not being able to move for about 10 secs as I thought my brain was littrally gonna explode.

Thanks for the reply, and I apologize if I posted in the wrong area. I choose it because the pain was so intense. I felt the same way you described. Crippling pulsing pain in the front of my head. I layed down and it took about 10 mins. for it to subside. Next 4-5 times ehh? To bad this is the third time since I was injured in 2003.

I too was injured in 2003.
What level are you injured...inc or complete?
I found it not possible to do just any time but only when in the mood, so to speak.

This is more common than one would think. When lucky enough to come even close to an orgasm I'll get all sweated up and headachey for a little while.

C6 incomplete, but might as well be complete.

4 years post now. And yeah, I've pretty much given up hope of it happening, including retrograde. But, it hasn't stopped me from experimenting. Even trial and error can be fun!

C5 incomplete here, and after trying to orgasm after my injury I would get dysreflexic. After a few times though it has gone away completely. Now I just spasm with no pain.

Just a quick update. It happened again, but this time the headache was less severe and was gone in a matter of minutes. It looks like Lucky's theory was probably right. Thanks for the responses.

Nice 1 bud, I'm happy for ya. The thing that does my head in is the spasm's in my legs and hands just before "take off"! Ruins it a little bit.....
It's also a bit of a game trying the old missionary..... poor girl ends up getting crushed as I clumsily clamber on top. With not much tricep strength, it's much easier to be under-neath!
All the best.

Hello, I get some dysreflexia upon ejaculation as well. Perhaps this means there is some kind of internal or external sphincter dyssynergia? (I am pretty sure my own dysreflexia is caused mainly by internal sphincter dyssynergia, but I should for sure after I try some treatments).

Possibly, but that isn't necessarily the only root cause.

We know that autonomic dysreflexia can be caused by nearly any stimuli in which your brain can not fully recognize, however this covers a LOT of ground. AD can be caused by something as little as sitting on a coin, or something as serious as abdominal pain that a desensitized individual may or may not feel.

That said, there are a TON of things that happen during sexual climax, and because of that there are a TON of possible reasons. It's extremely difficult to narrow down the list to a point where one can accurately understand exactly which process is causing the autonomic dysreflexia.

Sphincter dyssynergia is absolutely accurate as a reason as to why someone is experiencing retrograde ejaculation or has problems with urinary incontinence, but not necessarily the only reason for autonomic dysreflexia during climax.

Yes, one of the few things that still can give me the pounding headache. It means your blood preasure has spiked! Your doctor can give you medication to take an hour before to limit the severity. Think it is only the physical stimulation though (no brain / mood), i have experienced it in a doctors office with a vibrator.
You have a talented girfriend:) hang on to her!

"Your doctor can give you medication to take an hour before to limit the severity. "

dm999,

You did the right thing to make your first attempt under medical control but my doctor is a lady and I'm a little uneasy to involve her. So I have some questions:

1. What medication have you been given ?
2. Was your blood pressure checked during or after that?

Thank you for you post
Your answer will be appreciated.

Just thinking, I remember the first time. It was like a chemical released in my brain and I just felt like this is the first time in 14 months ish when I really got the urge.

Cut this bit out......................

Then just before jaculatin for first time, my whole body spasmed once then went totally rigid from head to the end of my toes. Then eruption and I've never felt pain like it ever!!! A pain shot up my neck (spine) and I just laid there in the same position for approx 20 seconds with what I thought was brain damage. It was that bad!

Then I slowly began to move and I remember the smell of it..... like a chemically chloride smell.....soo strong.

What a blow out..... 2nd time was bad enough and 3rd - 4th then no pains after that.

A tip to those trying..... make sure your in the mood, use some baby lotion (pink tub) so you don't rip your skin to bits and concentrate on your nob-end! Seriously, thats the key to you releasing the 'pressure'.....

All the best.
