I no longer have the swelling that I once did, but occasionally my right lower leg/foot will suddenly become a ghastly purple-black color and appears swollen. It always clears up by elevating it.
Your blisters are what makes me think it may be something other than circulation...but that's just my gut feeling, I'm not in the medical field. See your doctor about this, if you haven't already. I hope you can find some relief.

I've worn below the knee stockings for ten years now with no problems of swelling. Before I wore them my feet used to swell, and crack.
If you're in the UK you can get them on prescription, and in black so they just look like socks. There was a thread here with some more information: http://www.apparelyz...p?showtopic=201
Best regards

They're swollen now, only from th bottom of the knee down and my feet.
I wear some tubeing but never knew you could be perscribed it.
I walk quite alot too, but they seem to swell for a week or so from time to time.
Big respect to all SCI people !

Have you heard of immobility lymphoedema? Essentially fluids and proteins build up in the limbs because of lack of movement. The proteins build up over time and the swelling thus becomes harder and harder to reduce. Fortunately their is a solution: Simple Lymphatic Drainage. This is a simple massage technique which initially is done daily for about 15 mins. I am C4/C5 (12yrs) and this technique completely resolved the problem for me. For more information on the subject search the net for lymphoedema. Alternatively you can get some info from The Lymphoedema Suport Network. Here are some addresses to start you off:

Incidentally, don't worry about the references to breast cancer. Lymphoedema is prevelant there because the lymph nodes are removed. With SCI, lymphoedema occurs because of immobility.
Good luck
