Thought I would let you know that ALan has started his rehab now. He has no movement at all in the fingers, however, it is hoped he will get enough power back to be able to oeprate a chair.

One piece of support he got comes from a previous patient a 15 years old who broke his neck. This guy is amazing. He is now approaching 16, is back at school in a chair which can climb stairs because the lift wont take a wheelchair. When I saw him he was in a lightweight chair like mine although with coloured circles on the wheels (not sure what they were about) and a switch on the frame beside the seat (dont know what that is a brake or something). However the support he gave Alan was encouraging. This guy is so upbeat. It looks like a long haul for ALan as therapy is slow with there being little movement.

I'll keep you updated.

Now the hard work begins, eh? I hope it all goes well with him, and he's able to realize some small improvement right away, as I think that would help to keep him encouraged. I'm glad to hear that he had such a positive experience with the other young fellow. Surely he's an angel in disguise. :)

Thanks for the update. :crash:

Hi Gary,
Took me awhile to follow what happened to you and Alan and your BIL. And that's a hell of a thing to go through. I cannot fathom going through this kind of thing twice yourself and in addition being in the same time and space when your nephew suffered his injuries. You visited me (on the other side) it’s time I learn about you and those similar to you. So I've been reading. I think your cast comes off in May? Your nephew had an operation in January. You do know about swelling do to injury compounded by swelling caused by surgery.... and those magical steroids: reduce swelling and screw you up in every other way. I hope Alan will move his fingers. There is no order in my need to know about each of you. It happened you posted, Joed answered, and I said what the hell are they talking about.
