Hello,

I posted already at this forum but I think I did not make myself clear enough :crash:

My problem is following. I have two villas on Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain which were built in 2003 especially for disabled people.
According to improvements (hoist for the pool, air conditioning, pool heating system, etc.) in recent time I/we need to actualize the following page:

Villas Don Pepe

We want to change the Flash-Format and include everything a disabled person would need on such a page. We do not want to put too much information on it

but

what would be the right things to include?
and is there a special order or design you would use?
What kind of photos do you want to see?

:)

I would love to receive many suggestions and recommandations as it would help us and disabled persons to receive/give the best information possible.

Thank you very much!!!

Christoph :D

Hi,

If I was designing a webpage to show a villa, I would want to see plenty of photographs of ramped area's where there may be steps, the bathroom to show an accessible shower, dining area's so I can estimate table hieghts for leg clearance and a suitable photograph to show the suitability of the surrounding area.

I have stayed at the Lanzarote Princess and the Timanfaya Palace several times. I think a close up map may also help to show where you are situated within the resort.

Regards

Simon.

Yes, you need lots of pictures and much larger than they are now. Not sure you need the flash stuff really the 'waiting for page to load' could loose you business. Its a simple design the flash seems unneccessary you could make this with html only.
Simon, thanks for table clearance tip! not thought of that, my chairs so high cant get under a bridge :mfrlol:

Hi Simon & Simon,

thanks for the first comments. I/We know Flash is a nice tool but we have to change back to HTML and you are right the format does not make Flash necessary.

Looks like pictures are very important - Could you give me the 5 most important things to photgraph? And if possible, rank them according to their importance.

Have a nice day,

Christoph :mfrlol:

have a look at our site linked below
http://www.disableda...ibleholiday.com
You should invest in professional pictures too, the diff between them and laymans pictures are huge, just had a 2nd set done which will be added in next week, the guy used an extra, extra wide lens so the rooms are shown as fully as poss.

Hi there

As I am in the middle of building six accessible apartments in France I am really interested to see what people do and don't want from a photography point of view. Having a hubby who's passion is photography helps, although we were thinking of doing panormic tours of our interiors when they finally look habitable, along with the usual still photos too.
This would allow the customer to see all around a room, then click on a door and go to another room, in essence like a virtual tour.

The main thing I want to be able to do is show exactly what the person is paying for, so that there are no hidden surprises, as I and I am sure most wheelchair users have all been on an "accessible" holiday only to find you can't get in the shower, or you have to go round the back to get in somewhere, etc That really stinks as far as I am concerned.

Anyway - happy hols to all.

Hi Christoph,

I'm coming to Lanzarote next Wednesday, staying at Hyde Park Lane Bungalows in Playa De Los Piccolos.

I was wondering if you know of any wheelchair accessible attractions to visit whilst we're there. We are going to hire a car hopfully to do a bit of exploring.

Regards

Simon.

Dear Simon,

now I am more than surprised. Because I asked for a notice if I get new posts on this thread but I did not get any and I have to see that I could have helped you a lot.
Sorry mate but this is according to a technical problem.

I developed a guide especially for our guests with wheelchair. You can download it on our new website:

http://www.villasdonpepe.com

I just came here to announce that we finished the construction of the website and that I wanted to know what you think about it.

Again, I am so Sorry!!!

Christoph,

Don't worry, we still had a great time.

We hired a car for the week, and travelled around the island quite a lot.

I can't say I'd reccommend the Hyde Park Lane Bungalows in Playa De Los Piccolos. We managed, but they were very basic, and not fully adapted if you were to come here on your own.

We stopped off at Playa Blanca, boy, the place has changed in 5 years! It looks as though there's some pretty serious development planned there for the coming years.

We stopped of at the Rubicon Marina at Lanis, and had a meal, very nice down that end, you can see where the money is!

Your site's looking good, and the guide is very handy.

Regards

Simon.

Dear Simon,

thx a lot.

Guess what?! I got an reply information this morning - do not know how that works :)

Puerto Rubicon definitely is the place where the money found its way. Still it looks nice and for a nice evening dinner it's worth electing this place. Lani's is also one restaurant we recommended in our guide as they are very nice, come with a great variation of food and do have nice disabled toilets.

Good to hear that you had a lovely time over there - next time I am expecting you in our villas ;-)

Have a nice day,

Christoph

Christoph,

Are your Villa Don Pepe prices per night, or per week?

Hi Simon, Simon and Chris,

I booked us into our Season's timeshare yesterday in Costa Teguise, as long as we are on the ground floor John is fine as he only needs a chair as and when, rather than all of the time.

Reading these postings made me need a holiday, we love Lanzarote, and Playa Blanca is our favourite part, we always hire a car to travel as John struggles to walk more than 50 metres. They have put in a huge costal walk way which goes for miles, right along the coast's edge, but it is a bit up and down. We have been back and for to Lanzarote since 1999 and we cannot get over how much it changes each time we visit.

Anyway, back to the subject of Lani's, which one are you recommending as there are so many. The first time we arrived in Peurto Del Carmen, we were told by friends to go to Lani's Restaurant. So we decided to go for a quick sight see and then get food, we past many Lani's and where like well which one did they mean, so over the fortnight we tried several.

The best in our experience are the one in Peurto Callera and the one in the new part of Blaya Blanca which is actually built over the marina with the fish below you in the marina. :mfromg:

When eating in the Peurto Callera Lani's you can admire his millions of pounds boat, which is also anchored there. You can then see what your hard earned cash is being spent on and dream that it's yours. (Mind rumour has it that it may be paid for in other ways, according to the locals we met!)

The holiday's not until April, 2007 as we have too much going on with the Court case and all the doctors, etc this year to be able to get away, so some short breaks in West Wales will have to suffice for 2006 holiday.

Chris, there is a man looking for a holiday in the Canaries with his girlfriend elsewhere on this forum. Check through and give him your details.

Dreaming of holidays, by for now

Maria
Wife of an incomplete SCI - level C5/6 - accident lifting boards above his head in work caused popping sensation in his neck and this was the result. He uses a wheelchair part of the time.

Never say never, and definately do not quit, its usually worth the trying in the end.

Dear Maria,

that is so nice reminding me about this guy. Thanks a lot. I am in contact with him since yesterday ;-)

About Lani's you are so right. They have so many that one should be more specific. They also do have Indonesian, Italian, ... cuisine. Like you I love the one in Puerto Rubicon with the fish beneath you ;-) It is fantastic. Also I can recommend there new Café which is in Puerto del Carmen - Café La Ola, very nice with fantastic seaview and a pool.

If you have not been here since '99 you will be surprised once more about Playa Blanca.

So I will work against the time now to have a great weekend with football, Formula 1 and a Regatta in Puerto Calero - probably I will see Lani in his big yacht.

Have a nice weekend too
