Have you looked through the Bowel and Bladder sub-forum? There's several threads on treating UTI's.

Also, what kind of catheter are you using?

Thanks for your email.

No I have never had this done yet. What would they look for when they look through the bowel? Doctors looked in my bladder and say everything looks fine.

I use the condom cath.

Its so hard to go to work and have to deal with UTI every month. I just finished a 10 day treatment. (Ciprofloxacin)

What I mean is that there is a section of this forum specifically for Bowel and Bladder issues. If you click on this link: Bowel and Bladder, you'll see it.

What about supplements? Do you take Vitamin C or Cranberry tablets? Changing the acidity of your urine might help with infections.

If they are e-coli infections - try d-mannose in the evening and Cranberry juice in the mornings

I drink almost 2 gallons of water a day take thousands of mgs of crannbrery juice pills and also take baclofen twice a week as a precautionary method. 500 mgs each. If I get infection I increase as needed. I have a supa pubic cath so I can get tehm easy as well.

I use extenal condom drainage and have for 32 years. I find 500mg of Vit C plus Hiprex morning and night are a big help. I now take Cranberry tablet each day 1500mg. You probably have the same problem as I - high residual - not emptying bladder completely. That is most important - don't just rely on autoing but push and tap to empty as much as possible at least five tims a day.

pedro2007,

Have you been tested for residual urine ? Are you sure that it is less than 50-100 ml ?

I too have been suffering with chronic uti (one month of antibiotics just finish, then the next one starts).. I have become so desperate that I have decided to order the much debated "Zapper" (see the thread from a few months ago) just incase it works.. It hasn't arrived yet, but I will post an update on how it goes once I recieve it..
