Hi,

I've been getting almost constant UTIs for at least 4 months now and I've had loads of anti-biotics which I know isn't good for me. I've just read on here about probiotics. I'm going to get some vitamin c tablets but I was wondering what probiotics you can recommend.

Thanks!

I take Bio-K Plus, a a pro-biotic capsule (every other day). Each capsule contains 30 billion of L.acidophilus and L.casei.
Most other sources of proboitics have significantly less amounts and thus they aren't effective. The stuff works; in my opinion it's the best out there.

Eat live yoghurt. Much better for you than eating pills ;) The acidophilus in home made yoghurt.. or as fresh as you can get it is the best for your tummy :)

With so many thousands of bactium in the digestive tract, replacing just one or two is helpful, just not as much as letting it get there its self. You body is designed to make its own bacteria ;) You will have seen that alot of these *pro* biotic companies have been told off about adversising how *great* it is ;) Acidophilus is great also for candida aka yeast infestations ;)

Good diet and excersice and let the body do the rest.

No problem. I had a specific conversation with the nutritionalist about yoghurt vs capsule and I was informed by more than one source that though the yoghurt was ok, it only has any real benefit if it was organic and 100% sugar free with many live cultures. After getting more than one opinion, doing my research and trying it for myself I have found the capsule contains significantly more of the probiotic than the yoghurt. That is if you can get the capsule in the UK. If in doubt, compare it for yourself; it should say the outside of the package how much either product actually contains.

Good luck.

I use a product called Lp299v which contains Lactobocillus plantarum 299v, 5 billion C.F.U and 5x10 C.F.U. I take 2 capsules daily with Activia yoghurt. this works for me but after 2yrs. usage am now going to switch to a product called herbal Digestive Complex. The yoghurt i feel does work as well.
Good Luck

All

I am no expert on this stuff but you might like to consider this;

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8305918.stm

which i interpret to mean that plain yoghurt may be just as good as the more expensive varieties..

I went to the health food shop and I got some Bio-Strath Elixir to make myself feel better, generally. I bought some pro-biotic capsules and a herbal tincture that's meant to cleanse the kidneys.

I also bought some Activia drinks. I *will* make myself healthy!!! I'm on 50mg antibiotic a day ( forget which one) but I'm feeling well today for the first time in ages. Hope it continues.
