However bad things can get, we gotta remember it's always worse for someone else...

.. I often wonder who's got it worst on this planet and if he/she is thinking; ''it's always worse for someone else...''

well, if it helps you get through, I guess it's fine.

Poor bastard, btw.

Hi Topper

Yes, you're right: in reality everyone's woes are relative to their own situation so I'm aware that to say "it's always worse for someone else" is a fairly pointless and unhelpful statement. And no, it's not what keeps me going either. But an astonishing story anyway.

And yes, poor bastard. That we can agree on too.

Maybe this is an inappropriate moment to post this oldie...

I saw this story on HLN this morning. One comment that was made by Dr. Sanjay Gupta is that misdiagnosis like this happen all the time because doctors don't do enough testing. Here in the states doctors are test-happy. I wonder if that will change with the "Public Option".

If doctors are being loyal to their oath to do everything to restore patients to good health, then why should it?

Unless of course, you are implying that doctors in the US are motivated more by money than patient care. If that is true, then god (insert deity of choice) help you all because you are doomed whatever system you choose.

Never mind the news story.... GreyBeard: you've changed your profile pic?? I found the other one far more reassuring: it gave your comments gravitas!

Nah. Just the avatar. I tried to load the beard pic for the avatar, but it wouldn't accept it for some reason. I quite like the penguin. I am a Linux user after all. Seems fitting. However, being committed to democracy, should you wish to start a poll, naturally I'll abide by the majority view
