Hello All:

My first family trip approaches and we will be flying Jet-Blue from White Plains to Florida for a cruise. I have read through the travel forums and seen that most people are traveling with ultralite wheelchairs or temporary wheelchairs. My father is over 70 a T9 and is in one of those majorly heavy (260 pounds) full on $28,000 Wheelchairs. Will we be able to check this? He will need this desperately to get around the ship. With his spinal damage he was cut around he entire body severing all the muscles stomach to back....these will take a year or more to heal we are told. The wheelchair helps him remain comfortable and enables him to frequently change positions as he must.

The airline knows....but I am always wary when speaking with someone reading off the cue cards 2000 miles away.......

Any information is appreciated. Thank you all in advance! ERF

you won't have any problems getting the chair there, the airlines accommodate it fine. however make sure an advocate stay w/ the chair as long as possible, the loading crews don't mean harm but just don't know better
