Hello all, 37 year old male. married with 2 boys. I crashed my motorcycle 6 months and 1 day ago. I broke the C7 and was diagnosised ASIA A. After yesterdays check up I was told I am now ASIA B and told I am classified as a C8/T1 because of my hand control and new found sensation. I am a determined individual, and desire to grasp this new found lifestyle quickly. I truly dislike the bathroom regiment, I need to learn a good caloric intake, I have gained 10 pounds since the accident and am dieting and excercising to lose the weight, I get down sometimes and need to know how to shake the blues away, Outpatient therapy is once a week and is my favorite day, Frustrated and rambuncious I am. Somebody write me and tell me some rules to follow for sanity, and tell me what to expect in years to come. I am self employed, I own a autobdy shop and I have been back to work full time doing 10 hr. days, but when I come home my mind races, and I ask myself over and over why. When does that go away?

"Why" comes back round every now and then still for me, at almost 3 yrs post injury. Expect people to treat you with the same disrespect and inconsideration as they did when you were able-bodied, just in a bit different fashion. People in general still suck, but now you have an excuse to run over their toes. Other than that, don't say never, and don't let your mind hold you back from doing all the stuff you don't yet know you can still do. Use those racing thoughts to come up with ways of doing stuff more efficiently. (It helps me, so maybe it will help you.) Also, check out the motorsports section of the forum under Sports for Disabled. And remember, sanity is a full time job, itself.
