Looking back I did get incapacity benefit and income support at the same time. I had forgotten this was because when I first started to get I.B. it did not come to the amount the government says I need to live on.
Nothing ventured nothing gained anyone out there in doubt as to what they are entitled to should look at direct.gov.uk or call their local citizens advice bureau.

was worth a try though pikey.
i aparently have an income of 60p a month more than the government say i need to live on!! so i cant get is either!!
best of it is if i had 61p a month less coming in then i'd get free dental treatment, free eye check free glasses etc etc yet as i get 60p a month more than what they say that suposidly makes me able to afford to pay out for the above so having £7.20 a year more than allowed means i can afford to pay £25 twice a year for dental check up, not to meantion up to £250 for a replacement crown when needed! or £60 odd for fillings, then theres eye checks and glasses etc, by the time i've paid out on these that in reality puts me on an income of much less than income support allows, but they dont take that into consideration, so basically if your income is just over the amount allowed , you actually end up much worse off than those that get income support!! welcome to the great british benefits system!! at least my gp ensures i get free prescriptions!!

The HC1 covers:-
NHS prescriptions
NHS dental treatment
NHS wigs and fabric supports; sight tests, glasses and contact lenses; or
travel to receive NHS treatment if referred by a doctor (GP or hospital doctor) or dentist.

Sorry Allister, but I just laughed aloud when I read the above. When I first read it yesterday I thought you were referring to BP (British Petroleum) shares. I thought it was odd that they should go up in value given the oil spill crisis in the US. When I read it again today I realised you were referring to your blood pressure!
Clive
To all our US members - I hope the mess is cleared up before too much damage occurs.
