Hi all,

I'm going to buy tickets to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London for next year, but rather than drive all the way home after the concert, we're thinking of staying overnight.

Does anyone know of a good hotel with wheelchair accessible rooms near to the Royal Albert Hall, preferably within walking/rolling distance?

Thanks

Simon :)

The London Hilton on Park Lane is just up the road - try them.

I went to the Albert Hall many years ago to watch a boxing fight night - excellent venue - but that was before the wheelchair.

Haven't stayed in any London hotels (tho drive past them each week) and this enormous hotel is just down the road from RAH towards Ken High St

http://www.royalgard...oms_and_suites/

The link takes you to a page which mentions the accessible rooms, but not the prices - which I guess will be dependent on when you book it for.

Don't know whether they're stupid prices or not.

Failing that, these guys have got more budget hotels around London: http://www.easyhotel.com/

Masochist!

Although I was born and raised there, the closest I would voluntarily go to London (or any large town) is the end of my street !!! Good luck. :)

GB you ol' misery guts - the place is vibrant, alive, energised (and yes, full of tw4ts too).

Simon, can I whole-heartedly recommend Maroush on the Edgware Road if you want a delicious Lebanese meal! There's several of them, I usually go into the most w/c UN-friendly of them (but that's because I've always gone into that one) but others are easier access (though don't know about accessible loo).

I stayed in a Jurys Inn last night which was actually pretty nice, cheap but very comfortable and very accessible. Looking at their website there is one in Chelsea which isn't too far from Kensington. Plus it's easy enough to get a cab or a bus

Thanks everyone!

Jury's Inn looks good, clean and a realistic price.

Hilton will be around £200.00

The Royal Garden Hotel has the builders in!

Park Plaza looks ok as well.

Keep the hotels coming!

Of course, if we can't get tickets (I'll find out tomorrow!), this page will be for future reference, but will still be very useful for others. :)

Why not stay at Trin's place Simon, she's got a really "BIG NEW BED," which she tells us is very comfy... :) Nowhere near the AH though, but we wont tell..

You don't get a Full English brekkie at my house though, the best you could hope for is soggy Weetabix or lumpy Ready Brek. I could always scrape the mould off the bread if you fancy some toast though! :)

They've sold out!

We're in block G, right at the front, hopefully the view will be ok!

Quick update on our trip to London.

We travelled by car, which was really easy. There was no congestion charge, as our car is Road Tax exempt, so the cameras automatically log you as not requiring to pay.

When we arrived to our hotel, The Copthorne Tara in Kensington, there was disabled parking (3 spaces) outside the front door, couldn't be easier.

The disabled room was booked through https://www.tourismforall.org.uk/ .

The room itself was ok for one night, it was functional, but a bit dated, and the doorway may of been a bit of a squeeze for someone with a larger electric wheelchair. For us though, it was fine, we were only sleeping in there, and didn't intend spending much time in the room anyway.

They do have larger rooms for disabled access, so mention your requirements when booking.

We walked/rolled to the Royal Albert Hall, which took us 20 minutes, not far at all.

Once inside The Royal Albert Hall, we went to the Coda Restaurant which we had booked in advance. I chose this restaurant because I saw the tables on their website, and knew I would be able to get my legs underneath.

Our seats for the concert were in Door 1, Platform G, Row 1.

These seats are set back behind the stage slightly, but because it was such a special concert, we were happy to even be there!

After the concert, the following morning, it was down for breakfast, for as much Full English as you could eat, which was included in the room price. The room was £125.00 for both of us, including breakfast, checkout time was 12.00 noon.

All in all, a really good visit!

Simon.

(p.s. I'll close this now the concert's finished!)
