Hello all,

Hope everyone having a good weekend, and ready for Santa.

Ok me and a few mates fancy going abroad for a lad type week, that means more sleep, beer and clubs, rather than beaches etc.

I'm a wheelchair user, n if facilities are right very independant (this means suitable room, then pubs n clubs having ramps and accesible toilets).

Problem we having is where to go, I do want warm, place to be more for adults than kids, and not too expensive.

So if any one has any ideas, please let me know

Thank you

Mark

Hi Mark

You can try these websites:

http://www.accessatlast.com/

or the last minute offers section: http://www.accessatl...holiday/offers/

Or you can try http://www.spinal.co...advertisments#6

Or http://www.accessibletravel.co.uk/.

or http://www.tourismforall.org.uk/

When you telephone for info, ask specific questions about bathroom, etc... as otherwise results can be disappointing.

Sure others here will have specific recommendations...

for UK residents - DisabledGear.com - the FREE-Ads website for 2nd hand disability equipment.

Cheers Guido,

Have emailed a few of them as well.

I am wondering if anyone had any sugestions where they have actually been on that type of holiday.

Think personal reccomendations are so much more reliable, don't you think :)

Thank you

Vilamoura in the Algarve is a good option but you'd need to make sure the hotel is on the marina. The marina has a busy night life with lots of bars, restaurants, night clubs, casino, etc and during the day you can rent jet skis, jet boats, sailing cruises, fishing, etc. It's only 15 to 20 mins from Faro airport.

Rather than going direct to hotels to get prices, then book your flights, I suggest you contact the large tour operators and they'll offer you much better prices as part of a package - flight, accommodation and airport transfers.

Also, if you go in the first 2 weeks of Sep, the prices will be lower as school holidays are over. The prices drop again from around 15th Sep. It'll still be hot enough to swim in the sea - mid 20's and above.

There's a road that's closed to most traffic and all bars etc are at road level. There's a web site you can check out for the marina...

http://www.marinadevilamoura.com

If you decide to go, let me know and I'll let you have some more contacts re things to do, places to go, etc - sailing on an ex-racing catamaran, etc. I used to live near there.

Someone just recently posted something about their condo (accessible) in Hawaii.
Also there's a place in Mexico that's for WC users only, but I can't remember the name of it. Freedom Shores maybe?

Hi
well no not really but I do like the route you're taking, you could start your own topic, include Queensland for well think that is obvious, and u cud go for amsterdam, for water loving hamsters, think the list could be endless
