Dude.
You've been injured a year. All kinds of motor and sensation could come back.
You've heard it before. You'll hear it again. Every injury is different.

Ya just gotta wait n' see.

Hi,

I had my Incident 13th June 1992 - I was a motorcycle dealer and all was great until I misjudged the bend and rode into a ditch - T3, T4 T5 and L1 incomplete.

Some sensations came back in the September and I started 'walking' between the bars in the physio unit.

I now walk with a cane and have full bladder and bowel control.

Every injury is different as we are all aware - all I can suggest is what I think helped me - to stand as much as I could and transfer weight to each leg.

Every body is differant
Especualy when its a incomplete injury
But the 2 year rule applies to all
The farther nerves grow - the less conductive they become
So do the exercise - do the physio - do the pool - work like crazy for 2 years
Then take a break and see what youve got

Good luck

The two year anniversary after a spinal cord injury can be tough because for many years, experts held that most improvements from spinal cord injuries occurred in the first six months of recovery, and that improvement was impossible after two years. We now know that the experts were wrong. The "two year rule" is a bunch of crap and keeps people from further recovery, in my opinion.

I would recommend seeing a Urologist and having urodynamic studies done to see what is going on with your bladder. Sometimes those weird little feelings can mean something. I know someone who had bowel return after 4 years.

The 2 year rule is just a guide
In my case a truly accurate guide
Then at the time I was chord damaged not chord severed
Just a shame that after 20 years on my legs I desended into a chair
6 months - Used Crutches
2 years - ditched calipers
20 years - calipers, crutches, chair

I don't know about the 2-year rule. But I can say that within the first year, I could start to feel when I need to cath and when I need to poop. Now, I don't watch the clock or anything. I drink whatever I want whenever I want. I can tell, when I'm awake, that I need to relieve myself. And I *usually* wake up at night to cath. But there are times when I still have an accident when sleeping.

Keep the faith. I recommend you celebrate any recovery you get. But don't set any goals like "I'll be happy when XXXX comes back".
T4/T5 Complete. Injured March 2006 and still living a wonderful life.
