Taking my BF, a C6/7 quad to a new hospital, since he has been in & out of the hospital that gave him his pressure sore and then misdiagnosed it! We have been unable to keep him from either getting reinfected or the docs have never fully gotten rid of the initial infection. So since late August he has been in and out of the hospital on IV antibiotics for 7 days, home on orals for 7 days, and he keeps deteriorating and battling a uti that won't go away, and this pressure sore that at times seems to be infection free and then shows up infected again. I don't quite know what to do, I have found an excellent wound care center that we are moving him to, becuz his docs at the other hospital just keep doing the same thing over and over. He has been on bedrest, propped on his side since late August, only tiime he is in his chair is to transport him.

My question is - has anyone else battled this particular infection, and what should I be looking for the doctors doing to get this resolved and also, does anyone have an idea about how long it should take to get of these infections? I'd like to educate myself well, so when I talk to the docs I ask the right questions
