Hi All,

And a Happy New Year to everyone, too!

I'm able to ambulate with a walker, but due to my feet swelling up and being painful (at least the parts I can still feel) from driving, am looking to find out which portable hand controls for cars you like the most and don't like at all. Any and all suggestions welcome, and thanks in advance.

Here's hoping they find a cure for SCI REAL soon!

Don't know where you are but, if in the UK, there is a company wh do such items. Do a net seach for hand comtrols and you should find them.

The company in the UK is called Lynx Hand controls and they cost £350-400 a set. I drive my Coopers S all the time with them as I can't be bothered get proper one's fitted.

In the USA SportAid sells several different types.

I bought Colours AZ-1 portable controls, and for temporary controls they are great, easy to install and operate.
The only thing that has grown tiresome is the thumb-button accelerator; it's okay driving in the city, but for the highway, cruise control helps out a lot!

I've been using peddle master hand controls for 15 years now. They are so easy to adjust from car to car.. Here's the website. www.peddlemaster.com

If the OP is in the UK, controls such as Lynx cannot be used on a permanent basis, a proper set of controls must be fitted for insurance purposes.

I also bout a set of the colours off of sportaid and have found them to be quite easy to install on most vehicles and not very hard to use either.

I make my own due to owning various vehicles including a harley trike. A "universal set" is hard to come up with although their are universal pieces I use in my sets. Typically a couple ball joints, some good sturdy rods, various grips, custom bent rod guides, and then either custom bent brackets or sturdy milled blocks with set screws will do. If you know the vehicle or vehicle types you will be using I would be glad to gather all the parts and give you points on installation process I use for a reasonable offer. Just looking to help save you money.
