Hi. I have laminectomy surgery tomorrow. There is a blockage in the L3-4 region, but they can't tell what it is. I have had so many bouts with MRSA and I am dreading that either 1. It is a pocket of infection/MRSA, or 2. That I will end up with MRSA again because of the invasive nature of the surgery. I have to have this surgery because the pain and weakness in my legs is getting unbearable, but I hate that this will probably be something that occurs every so many years for the rest of my life. I just passed my 2 year anniversary, and have been pretty upbeat lately, but I can't stop worrying that I may end up in the ICU and rehab again. I dread that more than anything.
I should be back in about 4 days. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have had MRSA, it still pops up every now and then, I'm still a little confused on what it is exactly. I know it's some type of "superbug" and hurts like hell. My infection was on my face! I didn't know it could go or be on your spinal cord.

Good luck and stay positive!!!!

A belated "good luck, Sandy!"

BTW, are you going to Craig Hospital? Just curious.

Thanks for the goods wishes everyone. The surgery went incredibly well. I had bone spurs and fragments in a pocket pushing on the spinal cord. My surgeon said it was just as he suspected, and I already have pain and weakness relief. I was supposed to be in the hospital for 3-4 days, but he let me go today-- just one day after the surgery!! I' a little sore, but otherwise in good shape.

The surgery was done at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO, where I live. I had the same surgeon (Scott Dhupar), who did all my original back surgery. He is great.
Although I haven't been to Craig Hospital, I do feel comfort in knowing that it is nearby if I should need it. I think my surgeon has even operated there a couple of times (or had some sort of affiliation with them).
