I just wanted to see if anyone here gets into poetry or songwriting. I like to write and play. Here is an example of one of my songs that I worked on. My motivation to write this was about having a daughter. Before my injury I did want to have a child and I wanted it to be a little girl. I would have named her Cadence Lynn (given the wife approved).... If you like it thanks... If you don't like it.. then oh well, it makes me happy.. Here goes

I guess I’ve been oblivious
To the side effects of loneliness
I forget the times I miss
While sitting here writing this… to you
Can you help me find something to do
Maybe something new with you… next to you

I won’t let you get ahead of me
By conquering my disability
I follow you quite endlessly
As along as you let me be… with you
Can you help one more day or two
Somehow help me get through… next to you

Oh... what is life supposed to be
When and where does it begin
You ignite the light inside of me
My precious Cadence lynn
Oh… Is this love inside of me
Just what have I kept within
You chase the charm right out of me
My precious Cadence lynn

I spent my times of simplicity
Waiting for my time to be
Now I see quite possibly
That I need someone next to me… like you
Can you change my shade of blue
Perhaps watch my love accrue… next to you

I hope that you know sympathy
like I have after my injury
I’ll open with an apology
So I can relate comfortably… beside you
You show a side of me I never knew
One more feeling becomes anew… next to you

Oh... what is life supposed to be
When and where does it begin
You ignite the light inside of me
My precious Cadence lynn
Oh… Is this love inside of me
Just what have I kept within
You chase the charm right out of me
My precious Cadence lynn

I was a solemn hymn epiphany
With an incumbent tone of melody
But you found feelings from inside of me
That enticed my curiosity… because of you
I hope that you feel the same way too
This is the moment I dreamed into… next to you

Oh... what is life supposed to be
When and where does it begin
You ignite the light inside of me
My precious Cadence lynn
Oh… Is this love inside of me
Just what have I kept within
You chase the charm right out of me
My precious Cadence lynn
I'm bee-like, tenaciously stinging but patiently being. Please Believe

I hope you get a chance to video this and post it for us. I haven't written poetry since courtship, but then enough for a lifetime...

Hi Cstyle10,

Very nice, could be either poem or song. There is a catch all topic for Artists in the Members Only forum, but to my knowledge no topic dedicated to poetry or song writing, thanks for starting one.

Here's the Artists link...there are drawings, paintings, sketches, photographs, woodworking as well as poetry and a song or two... BTW, there is a new free form creative writing topic in the Cafe, come join in the fun/insanity if you have a yen for story telling...see 2nd link below.

I'm glad you posted,

Jerry :)
