Hi, guys, i was just wondering if any of you have had the same problem as my partner,

he was on antibiotics last year for around 4 months including iv,
since then he has been having problems with passing a motion, he uses glyserol suppostries and then manually evacuates,

before the antibiotics he could use his muscles to help push down, but when he took the antibiotics his stools became very loose,
he hasn't taken antibiotics now for at least 3 months, but his body does not help push anything down anymore, so he is straining and making himself bleed,
we don't know what to do any suggestions, he does his bowel program every other day to try and rest his body,

thank you

maria

Has he been checked by the doctor to make sure he does not have hemorrhoids? These can happen & do sometimes bleed. As for a solution to it; when I had them I had blood in my stools & when I wiped & the Dr. gave me a prescription strength creme for the hemorrhoids, we made it so my stools were softer/easier to move, & more frequent bed breaks (where instead of sitting in my wheelchair I lay on my side in bed for 30-90 min a few times a day). If he is having bloody stools or active bleeding I would still suggest that if he/she isn't already that his Dr. be made aware of what is going on. ;) Most Dr.s are idiots but even a good idiot is better than nothing. ;)
