i was just browsing round when I came across the story of how Stallone broke his neck on his recent film and had to have it 'bolted' together! Cant say I have seen x rays quite like this before. Rumour is that it was all made up. Since I have no opinion one way or the other just wondered if anyone has seen the x rays and n what do you think. Looks like he made one amazing recovery?

Read the story and see the x rays HERE

Yes, the hardware is unusual.

It does sound a bit odd to me as well.......ut who knows......anything is possible I suppose. But if he doesn't have any scars & magically has FULL range of motion then I'd say it sounds more fishy than odd. ;)

Wheeliebear,

I have C-5,6,and 7 screwed together and ended up with slightly better ROM than pre accident. No one believes it but my Chiropractor, who knew my ROM before. Suspect some chronic distortions were locked out with the plate and screws.

Great Taiwanese surgeon!

It said "hair line fracture",,,, Tiger Woods had those in his calf and still went on playing,,, and winning the tournement.

Doctors of the stars tend to be a lot more "hands on" than the ones we get. And three weeks to heal such a fracture is not out of line. I've had similar fractures in both hands and didn't leave work either time. Went to the ER after work and found out they were broken. One guy put on a cast ( which I cut off myself after a week and a half) and I didn't let the other guy put one on. Never lost a days work either time, tho I was a lot careful with them till they stopped aching.

So I'm saying, it's not out of the question.

but why operate at all on a hairline fracture. The operation is much more traumatic than the fracture. I remain puzzled.

Not precisely true about Chris Reeves. He died of a reaction to an antibiotic given him for sepsis, result of a pressure soar. Your point is basically true, but the details are informative.

my best friend died of sepsis, so i know what its about, some scary sh@t, i've asked that question many times how a man that has 24-7 care dies like that, how incompetent can his caregivers be, but again they can't force someone to stay off a sore, he was at events and fundraisers all the time, he actually lived longer than many, many people do for his injury level, who's to say there wasnt a bigger reason, i was amazed this could happen to a person with so much money and caregivers, who's to say it wasn't a bigger plan there, after his death, his wife dies of lung cancer, whats the odds, makes u think........u can get sepsis from a pin prick.......so who's to say?

:hijack: Chris' Death used to baffle me: 'round the clock best of care, etc....however, I know two people who have recently died as an indirect result of pressure wounds...one, a quad for over twenty years with a diligent wife who turned him every two hours --- he died from complications after surgery to "repair" the wound...the other Death was a para for 12 years (my first very good friend since my injury, also SCI'd from a motorcycle accident), he developed a pressure sore from always wearing short pants...did not see that a spot was rubbing, though he checked himself daily --- he died from a heart attack due to inactivity as the docs had parked him in a nursing home to "heal" after having taken care of himself alone in his own home for twelve years... so, however, pressure wounds kill...

:dunno: And so sorry, but I am still a disbeliever in the fractured cervical spine of Sly...prior to my SCI, I already had systemic arthritis and degenerative disc disease, and felt incredible pain, and would be laid-up for few weeks after by various procedures...I cannot believe that a middle-aged man would heal so rapidly from such an injury and "repair" as "documented" by those pics... :yikes:

he's not middle aged, hes in his 60's, but i even talked to a good friend of mine this past weekend because we had a mutual friend that died from a heartattack, but his wife has not had two plates and 3 cages put in her neck and spine, she has spinal degeneration, 3 since i talked to him since '06............but stallone used high doses of steroids to heal and a firm believer in the steroid use.........so thats all i know...
