It's something new for us but we've been talking about looking in to adoption, we would love a 3rd child. We've talked about adoption a tiny bit over the years, but now it seems like a great idea. I'm not to in to getting pregnant again ( I had tough deliveries with Brayden and Jazmine), but we both would love another baby in the future. We have set up a appoitment with a Internation adoption agency and with our Rabbi in hopes of somewhat getting started. I know adoption can take a long time which is why we are starting so soon after Brady's injury.

I'm looking to find out if anyone has any advise on adopting after being injured? Did you find you had a harder time having a baby placed with you?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Just a little update. We met with both a International and Domestic adoption agency, due to Brady's injury China and Russia ( our first and second choices) won't let us adopt. We decided to go with a semi-open Domestic adoption ( we'll send the birth Mom pictures every so often). We turned in our family profile on Thursday, now we just wait. The lady we're working with said she's seen people wait anywhere from 2 days to 2 years before a birth Mother picks them.

I just wanted to share with you that I was adopted by the two most wonderful parents in the whole world. My dad has a SCI and uses a wheelchair. He is also an incredibly kind and generous father who is also a very successful individual. I know they had some trouble getting a kid, but I was adopted privately and domestically, and I could not be more grateful for the life I've been given. I feel lucky, and in no way do I feel like my dad's SCI prevented him from being the greatest dad. I hope that your baby finds you soon!

I'm a T-12 para and in 1979 adopted a daughter at three and a half years that had been burned and abused. It was not a good experience and she has turned out badly, drugs, children out of wedlock, stealing, lying, all starting at an early age. I have completely severed ties with her. Sooo, my advice if you want to adopt is to
adopt an infant and know the history and genetic make up. Sometimes love and environment will win out over genetics but not always.

Since my first post on this topic we have adopted a beautiful baby girl Jerzee Grace. We were able to meet her birth parents before she was born and even develop a relationship that we still keep now. We've seen them two times since she was born on June 5th, I also email them pictures of her a lot. Both Brady and I were in the delivery room when she was born, I cut her cord and was the first to hold her.

It's very nice hearing your adoption story. My husband Cory and myself have just found out that we've been chosen by birth parents. We're are so very excited, we've been trying for close to 10 years for a baby. If all goes as planned we should be parents on 2/19/2011, so much to do in a short time. I love your daughters name, very pretty.
