I am glad nothing has changed.
In 2000 i applied for disabled students allowence, it took ages to come through. By the time i got the help i needed at xmas i was too far behind and had to resit the whole uni year.

A few things that are an issue with disabled students allowence are that most people dont think you can have the initial assessment until you get to uni in September but this isnt true. What is true is that you cant recieve any of the money / equipment until you have the stamped piece of paper saying you have registered for that year, but ... you can have had all the assssment and know exactly what equipment will help you, where it is ordered from, have it approved by the LEA so the moment you have that piece of paper you are ready to get the stuff to you ASAP.

Open university do it differently, so the moment i had paid course fees i could recieve help, so i had my equipment the same day as my books arrived for the course.

I dont see why nowdays why if you have paid your tuition fees you can order the DSA stuff, paying your tuition fees must allow you to enter into some kind of contract saying you wish to study.

I'm hoping things have got better, I am about to go back to uni (i hope) and 10 years on, I hope things are better
