My wife and I (from Prince George, B.C., Canada) are forecasting a trip to NZ, for November '06, via Australia. I am led to believe that I will be able to rent a car in Australia with hand controls at no additional cost.
However, my inquiries to car rental companies in N.Z, have given rise not to visit N.Z.
I have found only one company offering hand controls. However, unlike other jurisdictions throughout the world, this company informed me, that on top of the costs of a rental vehicle, I would be required to pay an additional $703.98(NZD).
That barrier to my physical disability may prove prohibitivefor visiting NZ.
If you are able, please supply me with company names and/or web addresses in Auckland, who rent cars with hand controls AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.
