Need Prayers For Simon

I work in a NH and it's part of our charting to record cath output. I could rant about this because the neglect here is pissing me off, but more important than that right now is that Simon gets better.
Please, if you're the praying type, pray for his recovery. And if you're not, some good wishes his way are great too.
He's dealing with blood poisoning and his one working kidney shut down--i think it might be on line again but I don't have all the details.
He's in ICU so i only get to visit for 30 minutes a day due the visitation times and my work schedule....but he's on family only and it's very nice of his family to allow me in. I appreciate that. Like I've said before, i feel like I'm in a weird position...when they ask are you family...I can only say "no, I'm just a friend." and I hate saying "just" a friend, because friends are important too....ok, refrain from rant...
He's awake and talking again, so there's improvement there, but it's still touch and go.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers
Thanks,
Amy

Thanks for keeping us in the loop. But, I gotta say this guy has had some seriously lousy luck while staying in that facility.

How can a para be unaware that he has not peed in 2 days?
(Most of us are peeing, with some kind of deliberate action, every couple of HOURS)
We all know tht peeing is critical to our health.
I'm sure there is a good explanation, but in any case, the cautionary lesson is clear:
You MUST drive your own care, always. With the exception of those times in ICU or the recovery room when you are out of your head, you must be aware of all the details of your care. Preferably you will be doing it yourself, but one way or another, you must make sure it is getting done.
There is no other way to survive.
Best,
Gordon

You're right. he should be taking better control of his bladder but wasn't. And hopefully, this will be the kick in the pants he needs to take charge. i tell him all the time that he can't wait around for the NH to do this and that, to start B&B care, to help him take better control of his meds.. a lot of mental blocks going on with him, but although that's the reason... he can't let that be an excuse.
He left his urinary care to people who show up if they feel like it and don't make the money they deserve for the work they do, which draws a certain level of folk--hate to say it but I work with them and it's true--and you can't put your life in these people's hands.
I hate that it happened, but I hope it will turn a light on for him.
